First Day of School

Lunchboxes with yummy snacks,

fresh haircuts to complement sweet dimples,

large backpack (and swim goggles),

a shiny barf bowl at 5 am....

When I awoke to make preparations for the day, Stephen appeared announcing he was unwell.  Mercifully Doug stayed home so the rest of us could go, and by the time we returned, Stephen had recuperated.

Maybe next week we can catch the whole crew.

There's More to Life Than 'Better Boy'

The last several years we've enjoyed planting a variety of tomatoes including several heirloom varieties and have been pleasantly surprised by the beauty and flavor of these fruits.  (I know I planted 'Mr. Stripey' and 'German Queen' but some small toddler removed my other labels).  Sadly, my favorite 'Cherokee Purple' died in the extreme heat and drought of the summer, but several others are producing which means BLTs & bruschetta, tomatoes with biscuits and gravy and thick slices atop pimento cheese.

Do yourself a favor next year and choose something different for a change.  You won't regret it.
